DR Congo’s iconic supporter Lumumba Vea will not be in the stands for the Leopards’ FIFA World Cup clash against Portugal after travel clearance delays prevented him from joining the team in time.
Michel Kuka Mboladinga, popularly known as Lumumba Vea, rose to international fame during the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations for his statue-like support of the Congolese national team, standing motionless throughout matches in tribute to independence hero Patrice Lumumba.
The celebrated supporter had been expected to accompany DR Congo to the World Cup, but administrative and entry-clearance issues have delayed his arrival, leaving the Leopards without one of their most recognisable figures for the Group K encounter with Portugal.
