IranWire has learned that Noyan Hejazi, a Baha’i citizen residing in Juybar, was transferred to a hospital on Tuesday, June 16, due to injuries sustained from a beating by security forces during his arrest.

According to informed sources, Mr. Hejazi had traveled to Sari following a phone call instructing him to collect his mobile phone, computer, laptop, and other personal items that had been confiscated during a previous arrest. Upon arriving at the designated location to retrieve his belongings, the Baha’i citizen was arrested on the street by officers from the Sari Intelligence and Public Security Police (PAVA).

Reports indicate that security agents severely beat Mr. Hejazi during the arrest. Due to blows inflicted on his chest and abdomen, he suffered a fractured left rib. He is currently under medical care at the hospital while remaining in the custody of security forces. Noyan Hejazi was previously arrested at his private residence in July of last year and was temporarily released after 40 days upon posting bail.

The Juybar Revolutionary Court, operating through Branch 102 of the Criminal Court, has sentenced Noyan Hejazi to seven months and 16 days in prison on charges of “propaganda against the state.” The Baha’i citizen was additionally sentenced to a cash fine of 122,501,000 tomans and a 10-year deprivation of social rights for “propaganda in favor of the Baha’i faith.”
