Fans can expect an emotional celebration for Irish band Kodaline when their Farewell Tour performance kicks off in Dublin this weekend. Since announcing their plans to split last October, the band recorded its fifth and final album. Kodaline’s members – Steve Garrigan, Mark Prendergast, Vincent May and Jason Boland – first got together in north Dublin in 2005 when they started to perform under the name 21 Demands. To celebrate their career, from busking on Grafton Street to headlining major venues, the band’s Farewell Tour will take them to the UK, Europe, Asia, and Australia.When and where is the gig?Kodaline will be performing at Malahide Castle on Saturday, June 20th.What time should I arrive? Gates open at 4pm and the show is expected to start at 5pm. Early customers will be turned away, so don’t plan on queuing before gates open. Stage times are not yet available, so keep an eye on social media for updates.Who is playing?Irish singer-songwriter Nell Mescal, sister of actor Paul Mescal, who has quickly developed a devoted cult following for her distinct and emotive songwriting. Mescal will open for Kodaline alongside The Academic, one of Ireland’s leading rock bands whose members hail from Westmeath. Do not park illegally in and around the venue, as clamping and towing will be in operation. Travel by bus: Dublin Bus routes H2 and 42 are available from the city centre, while the 102 travels to Malahide from Dublin Airport. The Dublin Bus website has full timetable information.Concert Express is also in operation, with a fleet of return buses travelling from the city centre, Ratoath and Blanchardstown. The service also has stops at Ashbourne, Swords, Corduff and Finglas. A Leap card will not be accepted on the Concert Express, so book a return ticket in advance of the show here.Private buses and coaches are also offering travel to and from the venue, with Marathon Coaches offering return journeys from Blessington, Naas, Enfield, Maynooth, Leixlip, Navan, Drogheda and more.Travel by Dart: Malahide Dart station is a 15-minute walk from the venue, and trains will be running regularly from the city centre. Anyone attending should download tickets to their phone in advance to avoid experiencing any issues around internet connectivity at the site. Screenshots of tickets may not work on the day, as Ticketmaster uses live or dynamic barcodes that update regularly. What is security like? Anyone under the age of 16 must be accompanied at all times by a parent or guardian. Strict age monitoring will be in place throughout the night.Security advises you to avoid bringing large bags or backpacks, as you may experience significant delays or be refused entry. There are no storage facilities on the site. Prohibited items include bags larger than A4, signs or flags larger than A3, flag poles, glass, cans, umbrellas, alcohol, e-scooters, e-bikes, disposable vapes, flares or professional recording equipment. Should I bring cash?All bars at Malahide Castle are cashless; they’ll accept credit and debit cards, as well as Google or Apple Pay. Food vendors will be accepting cash as well as card payments. What does the weather look like?According to Met Éireann, Saturday will bring sunny spells and just a chance of an odd light shower with highest temperatures of 15-19 degrees.Malahide Castle is an outdoor, standing venue, so make sure you bring comfortable and water-resistant footwear, and consider a rain jacket or poncho alongside sun cream.
