Written for the screen by Oscar nominee Emma Donoghue (Room), the “gothic feminist retelling” of Shakespeare’s play “reimagines one of literature’s most enduring figures through a dark, intimate lens, following a young noblewoman thrust into a politically arranged marriage in a brutal medieval world. As she navigates survival, power, and identity within a system designed to constrain her, her transformation unfolds into a portrait of ambition, resilience, and consequence.” Thud Deadline also reports Sarah Michelle Gellar and Rudy Pankow will star in Thud, a “supernatural romance” from director Mali Elfman. Based on an original script by Noga Pnueli (Meet Cute), the story bears witness as the Grim Reaper (Gellar) and the Devil (Pankow) “meet cute at a three-day destination wedding, falling in love after colliding at the event, where they’ve each come to sow their own chaos.”
