Lizard Music Deadline reports Regina Hall is the latest to join the cast of Benny Safdie’s film adaptation of Daniel Pinkwater’s Lizard Music in another undisclosed role. Jealous People Are Ugly People Deadline reports New Line Cinema has acquired the rights to Jealous People Are Ugly People, a “horror package” from Theo James Krekis based on his short film of the same title. Though details on the plot are also currently under wraps, the original short follows Vasilly, “whose jealousy over his best friend’s sudden career success feeds a dark supernatural force growing within him.” Spawn: The Animated Movie In a recent interview with Comic Book, Todd McFarlane revealed he’s sitting on a partially-completed Spawn movie starring the voices of Keith David and Mark Hamill. So I actually have a 90-minute animated show that’s all been drawn, minus the cells. All the voices have been done. Everything, like, we’re ready. All we need is a little bit of Foley, which is sound effects and stuff, and then hand it to a studio to actually draw, right? We’re like, it’s just been sitting in a box waiting to go. I have just been sitting on that going, no, I think I need to get like the movie out, and then boom, once the movie comes out, if there’s any success, then come out with that, but it’s sitting there. So anybody that wants to do animation, the first thing I’m going to do is say, hey, I’ve got this ready to tee up. We could get their real fast, if we just take what’s in this box right now because I bought it all back. Ugly Cry Deadline also reports Obscured Releasing has acquired the North American rights to Ugly Cry, a “psychological horror comedy” starring Emily Robinson, Ryan Simpkins, Aaron Dominguez, and Robin Tunney. Directed by Robinson herself, the story concerns “a young Hollywood actress’ dark descent into body dysmorphia as she struggles to fulfill impossible beauty standards.”
