Foreign Minister Penny Wong confirmed the advisory was lowered from "do not travel", with new guidance advising Australians to "reconsider your need to travel" to said nations. This change enables Australian citizens to travel to through major Gulf air hubs with the security of travel insurance coverage. Flight Centre Travel Group (FCTG)’s leisure chief executive James Kavanagh said the change was “the news a lot of Aussie travellers have been waiting for." He added that Flight Centre is expected to see a sharp recovery in bookings, while the change has also unlocked value fares previously offered by Middle East carriers.
