Today, in Part 2 of our annual NHL Draft player poll, I surveyed more than 60 of the 2026 class’ top prospects for their player comps.Their answers provide insight into the way they think about themselves and the style of game they play. Here are their answers, and the explanations and justifications that come with them. For the results of Part 1 of this year’s survey, which asked the players for the most talented and most underrated prospects in the class, click here.Top 5 prospects after the NHL Draft CombineCorey Pronman, Scott Wheeler and moreForwardsGavin McKenna: Patrick Kane. I’ve always been a fan, and we’ve got similar frames. With his creativity and his playmaking, we both kind of see the ice in similar ways and kind of take players out of their seats. And I think if you’d ask other people, they’d say I’m close to that as well.Ivar Stenberg: Lucas Raymond.Caleb Malhotra: Aleksander Barkov and Jack Eichel. Elite playmakers who have poise offensively and play in all areas.Viggo Björck: My favorite is Sidney Crosby, but that’s hard, so maybe Nick Suzuki or Brayden Point. They’re superstars as well, but I hope for that one day.Elton Hermansson: I try to model my game after William Nylander. That’s who I look up to.Alexander Command: A guy I try to mimic offensively is Leon Draisaitl, but I like a lot of different guys, too. Jonathan Toews is one of the guys I try to play as a two-way center. And I try to have the same cockiness, faceoffs and physical play as him.Marcus Nordmark: I don’t have one. I want to be like Brady and Matthew Tkachuk, but that’s tough to do because they’re rats. But they’re tough to play against, and I want to be tougher to play against.Wyatt Cullen: Jack Hughes and James Hagens. Really offensive, skilled, talented players.Casey Mutryn: I like watching guys like Matthew Knies and Brady Tkachuk. Those guys are obviously bigger guys, and they play a more straight-lined, up-and-down game, but also have skill. They’ve got a lot of different things they can bring and some versatility.Mikey Berchild: Someone I play pretty similar to is Brayden Point. I try to take things from his game and watch him.JP Hurlbert: For me, mine’s Sam Reinhart. I think we think the game the same and have the same strengths. He’s big on time, space, separation and kind of likes to get hidden and has a very underrated shot, so he’s someone I look up to and watch a lot of video on. He’s just a really offensive-minded guy who can play both ends of the ice, and he’s really good at shooting the puck, deceiving guys and can really make plays. And he’s a guy who always shows up when it means the most.Ethan Belchetz: Rick Nash. Brady Tkachuk. Aliaksei Protas. Juraj Slafkovský. All of those big, strong power forwards. And I’m lucky enough that I got to play with Ilya Protas last year, and I always asked him for insight on “What did your brother do with his training? How did he do this? What’s your brother’s weight and how does he feel at that?”Brady Tkachuk is the one guy I really model my game after. I watch his games often, and it’s the way he can affect the game every single shift, whether he’s putting the puck in the back of the net and creating offensive chances or he’s banging bodies and getting under the other team’s skin. He’s always doing something, and I really take pride in that. But I also wear 61 for Rick Nash. He’s a little bit out of my time frame, but just watching highlights and going over YouTube videos of his in my off-time, I think I can model my game after him.Matias Vanhanen: Logan Cooley. He’s a player I like to watch, and I’ve been watching him the last four years, trying to model my game after him. I’m confident with the puck, like to make plays with the puck, good skater and just compete hard at both ends.Liam Lefebvre: I’d say a mix of Tom Wilson and Morgan Geekie. Tom Wilson brings that physical side of his game, never backing down from anything, but then he also has that offensive touch, too. And then Morgan Geekie because of his shot. He’s an underrated guy as well, who kind of came up a little bit later in his career.I think it’s a physical game. I think I have some offensive upside with my shot and my skills. I think I’m a pretty good skater, but I could definitely work on my acceleration in the first three steps. But I just try to play with a lot of grit, a lot of edge. I think when my A game’s not rolling, I could kind of rely on that just as a B game to keep getting in guys’ faces, be physical, and stay in it and then when I get the bounces to go my way, it’s even better.Jaxon Cover: I like to model my game after Logan Cooley, just how strong he is on the puck, great hands and his really good vision. But I also like a mix of Nikita Kucherov and Tage Thompson. Tage, I just like how he uses his frame. I don’t think I’m as big or as physical as him, but I like how he uses it to protect pucks or drive the net, and he has really silky hands and a really good shot like me. And I like Kucherov’s deceptiveness, where anytime it looks like he’s going to make a pass or shoot the puck, he’ll do the opposite.
