Crowds gathered for the Gas Motorshow National Tour stop, celebrating South Africa’s growing car culture and community spirit.

Wednesday night's Gas Motorshow National Tour stop in Cape Town was about far more than horsepower and celebrity appearances. While many arrived hoping to catch a glimpse of Fast & Furious star Sung Kang and the exclusive trailer for his upcoming film, Drifter, the event revealed something much bigger. South Africa's car culture is finally earning the international recognition it deserves.

For years, local car enthusiasts have built communities around passion, creativity and dedication, often receiving little recognition beyond social media. Yet on Wednesday night, hundreds gathered not only to meet a Hollywood actor but also to celebrate a culture they helped build from the ground up. They gathered to show Sung why Cape Town is known as the home of JDM.

One of the highlights of the evening was the opportunity to meet Gas Motorshow founder Harry Naidoo, whose passion for the automotive industry was evident throughout the event.

What began as a vision to create a platform for car enthusiasts has grown into one of the country's most anticipated motoring experiences. His ability to bring internationally recognised personalities such as Sung Kang to South African shores through relentless DMs and emails is a testament to how far the event has come.
