MANILA, Philippines — President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. arrived in Kazan, Russia, on Wednesday to attend the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (Asean)-Russia Commemorative Summit, where leaders are expected to discuss food and energy security, trade, and other areas of cooperation.
The aircraft carrying Marcos and the Philippine delegation landed at 7:53 a.m. local time (12:53 p.m. in Manila).
The visit marks Marcos’ first trip to Russia and comes 50 years after former President Ferdinand Marcos Sr. visited the then-Soviet Union in 1976, a trip that led to the establishment of diplomatic relations between Manila and Moscow.
