MANILA, Philippines — The Alliance of Concerned Teachers (ACT) Philippines called for stronger school safety measures and increased staffing following a school incident in Cavite, where seven Grade 5 students were stabbed with a kitchen knife.

In a statement on Wednesday, the group said the incident “exposes long-standing gaps in school staffing and support systems.”

“For example, teachers are often pulled away for meetings or additional duties due to shortages, leaving gaps in supervision and support at critical moments,” said ACT chair Ruby Bernardo.FEATURED STORIES
