Her three great-grandsons, aged two, five and eight, died in the crash after the vehicle went off Bainskloof Pass in November 2021.

A 71-year-old great-grandmother has been convicted in the Worcester Regional Court on three counts of premeditated murder following a crash off Bainskloof Pass that claimed the lives of her three great-grandchildren in November 2021, the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) has confirmed.

As reported by Weekend Argus, the court found that the woman deliberately drove her vehicle through road barriers before plunging approximately 80 metres down a mountainside on November 20, 2021.

Killed in the incident were Joshua Booysen (2), Gradwell Booysen (5) and Caleb Booysen (8). The accused, De Villiers, survived the crash.

According to evidence presented in court, the children had been in foster care for about six months prior to the incident after being removed from their parents due to concerns over substance abuse. They had been spending time with family in Wellington before the fatal drive.
