As part of its ongoing efforts to combat crime, curb kidnapping and ensure safety of lives and properties of all and sundry, Oyo State Government has demolished a residential property used as a hideout for criminal elements and a storehouse for arms and ammunition.

The demolished property, comprising a storey building and two bungalows within a fenced compound, is located at Gbenku community, Arubiewe Road, off Olodo Garage in Egbeda Local Government Area, Ibadan.

The demolition exercise was carried out on Tuesday by a team led by Abdulmojeed Mogbonjubola, the Commissioner for Public Works and Transport, accompanied by operatives of the Nigeria Police Force, the Chairman, Egbeda Local Government Area, Hon. Sikiru Sanda, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Works and Transport, Prince Goke Adenrele, and other officials of the Ministry.

Speaking with journalists during the demolition exercise, the Commissioner disclosed that security agencies uncovered a cache of weapons in the building during an operational investigation and alerted the state government for further actions.
