Ali Olwan has done it. The Jordanian forward has scored his nation’s first-ever goal at a FIFA World Cup, etching his name into a history book that, until very recently, didn’t even have a chapter for Jordan.
For a country that had never qualified for football’s grandest stage before the 2026 tournament, every minute on the pitch was already a milestone.
The man who made it happen, twice
On June 5, 2025, he scored a hat-trick against Oman in a 3-0 victory that clinched qualification for the 2026 tournament.
Throughout the Asian qualifying rounds for the 2026 World Cup, Olwan tallied nine goals across the qualification campaign, making him one of the top scorers in the entire Asian qualifying process. Across his international career, he has netted 29 goals in total.
