Over 48,000 domestic helpers and support staff have been registered under the Malkajgiri police’s ‘Mee Suraksha’ initiative as part of a large-scale community safety and verification programme aimed at strengthening residential security through public participation.Launched on May 16, 2026, the initiative focuses on the enumeration and verification of domestic helpers, drivers, security guards, tenants and temporary residents across residential clusters to build a verified database for improved policing and faster response in case of incidents.Police officials said the commissionerate has divided all station jurisdictions into 4,12,308 residential clusters based on colonies, gated communities and housing societies to ensure systematic coverage. Awareness programmes were also conducted at 580 locations to encourage citizens and Resident Welfare Associations to voluntarily participate in the exercise.According to officials, the programme has received strong participation from residents and community associations over the past month, with police personnel conducting door-to-door verification and data collection across identified clusters. On June 16, as part of the ongoing outreach, 175 police teams visited various residential communities to brief residents on progress achieved under Mee Suraksha and to seek continued cooperation for further verification and monitoring activities.Police said the initiative is intended to help in early identification of suspicious activity, reduce opportunity-based crimes, and improve response mechanisms, particularly in residential neighbourhoods with vulnerable groups such as women, children and senior citizens.Malkajgiri Police Commissioner B. Sumathi participated in the programme and reviewed the progress report, along with senior officers, including DCPs, ACPs and inspectors, who were part of the field-level community engagement exercise. The commissionerate said the initiative will continue with sustained public participation to build safer and more secure neighbourhoods across the region.
