The Karnataka State Unorganised Workers’ Social Security Board, in association with the Labour Department, has launched a special registration drive to enrol eligible unorganised sector workers under the Pradhan Mantri Shram Yogi Maandhan Scheme. The drive will be conducted from January 15 to March 15, 2026.
A district-level implementation committee has been constituted under the chairmanship of the Deputy Commissioner. The registration drive will be carried out in phases with the support of Panchayat Raj institutions, urban local bodies, and Common Service Centres (CSCs). A target of 9,000 unorganised workers has been fixed for enrolment in Mysuru district.
Under the scheme, the Union government aims to provide financial security during old age by offering a fixed monthly pension of ₹3,000 to unorganised sector workers. Workers aged between 18 and 40 are eligible to enrol. Depending on their age, beneficiaries are required to contribute a monthly amount ranging from ₹55 to ₹200. An equal contribution will be made by the Union government, and the total amount will be deposited into the beneficiary’s bank account. After attaining the age of 60, beneficiaries will be eligible to receive a monthly pension of ₹3,000, according to a press release.
