The group scores yet another win on multiple charts in the U.K. this week, and the rockers nearly land another champion on one specific tally, but miss out on doing so by just one frustrating space.Pink Floyd’s 8-Tracks Debuts at No. 2Earlier in June, a new Pink Floyd compilation titled 8-Tracks was released, and superfans of the outfit have turned it into a bestseller. The project debuts on half a dozen rankings in the U.K., and it launches highest on the Official Rock & Metal Albums tally. On that genre-specific list, 8-Tracks starts its time at No. 2. Only Sanctuary, the latest release from hard rock favorites Evanescence, keeps Pink Floyd from one more champion as that set opens in first place.Pink Floyd Has Already Scored Eight LeadersWhile Pink Floyd does not start 8-Tracks at the summit of the Official Rock & Metal Albums chart, the band has already earned eight No. 1s. It's only been a little more than a year since the group soared to the peak position with At Pompeii — MCMLXXII. The troupe's The Dark Side of the Moon – which has appeared on the Official Rock & Metal Albums roster in multiple forms – brought the band to the rundown for the first time in October 2012, and so far, it has spent 32 weeks running the show. The compilation does not include any previously unreleased material, and yet, it’s a top performer. One track, a longer version of "Pigs on the Wing," was originally only available on an eight-track of the group's album Animals, and that appears to be perhaps the sole piece of music that was previously difficult to find. Also included on the compilation are smashes like "Money," "Wish You Were Here" and "Comfortably Numb," and the project is meant to highlight the best moments from from 1971 through 1979 for the band.Pink Floyd Hits the Top 10 on Multiple Charts8-Tracks starts its time inside the top 10 on four of the six U.K. rosters on which it debuts this week. 8-Tracks is new at No. 4 on both the Official Physical Albums and Official Vinyl Albums charts, and it comes in two spaces beneath that position, at No. 6, on the Official Albums Sales tally.
