The State government should create permanent positions for nursing tutors, professors, and other staff in the six new government nursing colleges rather than relying on contractual appointments, the Tamil Nadu Nurses Empowerment Association stated. In a statement, the association said the government’s decision to appoint staff on a contractual basis for these nursing colleges had upset many nurses. The association demanded permanent posts for these colleges. It also said several government nurses, who had completed higher education, including postgraduation and doctorate, worked at the same positions without any promotions for many years. Such eligible nurses should be prioritised for these nursing colleges. The association said permanent posts should be created to ensure job security for nurses and provide quality education for students.
