Barcelona has reached out to Manchester City about signing Vitor Reis, the 20-year-old Brazilian defender who has spent the current season on loan at Girona. The Catalan club values the centre-back at approximately €60 million, a figure that would represent a significant markup on what City originally paid for him.
Manchester City signed Reis from Palmeiras in January 2025 for £29.6 million. Barcelona is willing to pay roughly double what City invested just 18 months ago.
The deal structure and complications
Rather than pursuing a straight permanent transfer, Barcelona is reportedly exploring a loan with an option to buy.
Both sporting director Deco and head coach Hansi Flick have been impressed by Reis’s performances at Girona this season.
