The government is offering property owners money for the renovation of their assets, with the online platform for eligible applicants going live on Monday. A total of €480 million will be distributed.

The “Residence Renovation” platform operates at anakainisi.apps.gov.gr and with the use of Taxisnet codes, in Greek or English, citizens will be able to find out if they are eligible, which income category they belong to and which of the properties can be renovated with state support. The certificate of eligibility can be issued until August 24.

In a second stage, beneficiaries will submit the funding application and declare the work they wish to carry out. Some 60-80% of the funding concerns renovation work and 20-40% mild energy upgrades.

This initiative aims to increase supply in the housing market, focusing on older homes as well as those that are vacant. Eligible homes must have a building permit by December 31, 1990, and have a floor area of up to 120 square meters. For families with three or more children, the limit increases to 150 sq.m. without changing the maximum amount of the subsidy.

The first category of beneficiary properties will concern closed or unused properties that have been off the market at least from 2024. For these specific houses alone, €200 million will be dedicated, while the remaining €280 million will concern both closed and open (owner-occupied) properties.
