Rashtrotthana Vidya Kendra, Banashankari organised a walkathon and cyclothon on June 13 with the objective of promoting environmental awareness and inspiring sustainable living, in Bengaluru. The rally commenced at Aditya Bakery and proceeded towards Jayadeva Memorial Rashtrotthana Hospital, Rajarajeshwari Nagar.The programme was inaugurated by Sub-inspector (traffic police) Ramachandrappa, Sub-inspector Shekar, the institute’s correspondent, Vasanth Kumar, and the principal, Nanda, by offering flowers to the portraits of deities. Students, teachers, and parents carried placards displaying messages and slogans on the environment. The participants spread awareness about protecting nature and preserving the Earth for future generations. Students distributed seed balls packed in eco-friendly paper bags to people, encouraging tree plantation and environmental responsibility.The rally received an overwhelming and appreciative response from the community.Upon reaching the hospital premises, a formal programme was conducted in the presence of the chief guests, Dr. Shyla H.N. and Dr. Vineeth Mohan.The cultural segment featured a melodious group song, an inspiring skit based on World Environment Day, and a yoga display conveying environmental messages through creative placards.Addressing the gathering, Dr. Shyla emphasised the importance of following the 3Rs — Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle — and highlighted the need for proper waste segregation. Dr. Vineeth Mohan motivated everyone to adopt eco-friendly practices, and actively contribute towards environmental protection.The student performers were appreciated and honoured with mementoes. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by a student. Vice-principal Sandhya presented tokens of gratitude to the chief guests.The programme concluded with the chanting of the shanti mantra, to inspire everyone to work towards a greener and healthier future.
