Founded in Berlin and based in London, the startup raised €12 million in a seed round led by Dawn Capital. One of its angel investors is the former global head of audit at KPMG.
Cortea’s AI agents reviewed more than 4,000 audit reports in a single season and flagged issues in every one.
This funding arrives at a time when UK audit firms are under greater regulatory pressure to improve quality, and AI is being adopted more quickly in professional workflows.
Audit firms often spend months checking financial statements, disclosure notes, and company filings before signing off, but mistakes still happen. In the latest audit season, Cortea’s AI agents reviewed more than 4,000 audit reports and found issues in every single one.
This number highlights Cortea’s main selling point: its AI accelerates audits and identifies issues people might miss. Today, the company announced a €12 million seed round led by Dawn Capital, with Cherry Ventures, Mosaic Ventures, and angel investors, including Larry Bradley, the former global head of audit at KPMG, also participating.
