A new scheme launched by the Republic of Armenia in the healthcare sector has opened up export opportunities for Indian pharma companies in the oncology space.According to Raj Bhanu, Director-General of the Pharmaceutical Export Promotion Council, the Government of Armenia had launched a Universal Health Care (UHC) Scheme to provide mandatory state-subsidised health coverage to all citizens.Under this initiative, the Armenian Ministry of Health has identified a range of pharmaceutical products—primarily in the oncology segment for procurement from India.Indian drug makers engaged in the oncology segment, interested in supplying oncology products under the UHC Scheme as per the requirement specification, can utilise this opportunity by reaching out to PharmaExcel.“The Armenian Ministry of Health has assured support to Indian companies in the product registration process. Any challenges or issues faced during engagement may be directly taken up with the Ministry for expedited resolution,’’ the Pharmexcil DG said in a communication to the members of the Council.The initiative presents a valuable opportunity to expand Indian pharma companies in the Armenian market while contributing to its national healthcare initiative, he added.Published on June 16, 2026
