Knicks forward OG Anunoby made headlines over the NBA playoffs when it was revealed that he wears Skechers basketball shoes on the court. While Anunoby has long been an ambassador for the popular footwear brand, his commitment to wearing them all the way to the championship game have led people to wonder: could Skechers basketball shoes actually be good?
If Anunoby’s NBA finals performance is to be believed, the answer is a resounding yes. The 28-year-old averaged 21.2 points per game during the Knicks’ series against the San Antonio Spurs and shot 50% from beyond the arc (I.e. three-point range). Most impressively, Anunoby had a field goal percentage of 67.2%, the highest mark for a player with at least 150 field goal attempts in NBA playoff history, per the latest league stats.
And he did it all while wearing Skechers.
