What Trump is claiming
This isn’t the first time Trump has made this assertion. Back on April 16, 2026, he claimed Iran had agreed to hand over its enriched uranium. The June statement goes further, suggesting Tehran has committed to permanently abandoning its nuclear weapons ambitions.
The president also took aim at leaked reports originating from Iranian media outlets that described a proposed $300 billion reconstruction package from the United States. Trump dismissed those claims as “bearing no relation to the truth.”
