As a 19-year-old suspected of killing a Toronto police officer during a raid gone wrong remained unconscious in hospital Monday, lawyers were arguing about whether the court proceedings against him have entered a legal limbo.

Toronto police have said they plan to charge Nicholas Bennett in the death of Const. Marc Pinizzotto. It’s alleged the teenager fatally shot Pinizzotto as the officer helped execute a search warrant at his Black Creek apartment last Thursday.
