We already know a lot about Spider-Man: Brand New Day‘s cast and characters, but the film still has some surprises in store. Obviously, Tom Holland, Zendaya, and Jacob Batalon are returning as Peter Parker, Michelle “MJ” Jones, and Ned Leeds, respectively, but we also know about quite a few of the film’s villains, including Scorpion (Michael Mando), Tombstone (Marvin Jones III), the Hand, Tarantula, and Boomerang. One confirmed cast member whose character remains a mystery, though, is Sadie Sink. Sink has been rumored to be playing Jean Grey since her casting was first announced, but there’s been no confirmation of that so far. However, a new synopsis on the film’s official website has increased those odds significantly. It reads: It’s a BRAND NEW DAY for Peter Parker. Fighting crime full-time as Spider-Man in a world that doesn’t remember him—and the pressure of seeing his old friends move on without him—sparks a change in Peter he may not have the power to control. But that transformation might also be the only thing that can stop a shocking new threat to the city and those he loves—a powerful villain no one can even see. The world may have forgotten Peter Parker, but he hasn’t forgotten them. The description “a powerful villain no one can even see” doesn’t match any of the film’s confirmed villains, but it could describe Grey, one of the world’s most powerful mutants. Grey can’t become invisible in the traditional sense, but she can turn herself effectively invisible with a telekinetic cloaking ability.
