The CSOs Budget Implementation, Assessment, Evaluation and Monitoring Committee (CBIAMEC) has distanced itself from a series of petitions, allegations and protest-related activities linked to claims of financial misconduct against former Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun.
The Committee said it has no connection to the coalition of civil society actors currently facing detention by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) over allegations arising from a proposed protest and petition concerning the Nigeria Police Force.
CBIAMEC, in a statement signed by its Chairman, Amb. Splendour Agbonkpolor, said it had become aware of media reports attempting to associate it with the petition and related activities reportedly carried out by certain individuals within the civil society space.
It insisted that the actions being attributed to the Committee did not originate from it, were not approved, discussed, or sanctioned by it, and do not represent its official position.
