The residents, under the aegis of Take Back Festac, made the call during a press conference, where they alleged that critical infrastructure, green areas, recreational spaces and security facilities originally designated for public use were being sold off, contrary to the estate's master plan.

Residents of Festac Town and Amuwo-Odofin in Lagos State have raised concerns over the alleged continued disposal of public facilities and open spaces within the estate, calling on President Bola Tinubu to urgently intervene and order an investigation into the activities of the Federal Housing Authority (FHA).

The residents, under the aegis of Take Back Festac, made the call during a press conference, where they alleged that critical infrastructure, green areas, recreational spaces and security facilities originally designated for public use were being sold off, contrary to the estate's master plan.

One of the leaders of the group, Uduebor, said residents who had lived in Festac for decades were worried about the future of the estate and the impact the alleged sales could have on infrastructure and public health.

"Festac is our home. Many of us have lived here for more than 46 years and raised our children in this community. We are appealing to President Bola Tinubu to save what remains of this historic estate," he said.
