ABUJA — Nigeria’s headline inflation rose to 15.93 per cent in May 2026, up from 15.69 per cent in April, as persistent price pressures continued to impact household spending, according to the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS).

The latest Consumer Price Index (CPI) report released on Monday showed that the index climbed to 140.7, representing an increase of 2.4 points from the previous month.

The report indicated that food, transportation, and restaurant services were the major drivers of the increase in prices across the country.
