The Lokayukta Police have arrested a man and his son for making an attempt to bribe a government prosecutor in connection with an atrocities case pending before a court in Kalaburagi.According to the Lokayukta, the action was taken following a complaint filed by Pranesh Siddappa Bharatanur who is a senior law officer and government prosecutor. Officials said that an atrocities case registered under the jurisdiction of the Aland Police is under trial before the II Additional District and Sessions Court in Kalaburagi. They said that Sanjeevan Dattaji Patil and his son, Suresh Sanjeevan Patil, made an attempt to hand over ₹5,000 in cash to the prosecutor seeking favourable consideration for the accused in the case.Based on the complaint, Lokayukta officials carried out an operation and apprehended the two while they were offering the bribe money in an envelope.The operation was carried out under the supervision of Lokayukta Superintendent of Police C. Siddaraju and led by Police Inspector Rajashekhar Badadesar.Police Inspectors Arun Kumar and Ravi Pawar, along with other personnel, were part of the operation.The Lokayukta Police said that investigation is under way and that relevant documents and evidence are being collected.The accused will be produced before court after the completion of investigation, officials said.
