Rainbow Children’s Hospital here has launched a dedicated centre for the diagnosis, treatment, and long-term management of paediatric hearing, airway, and sleep disorders, a press release said.Advanced Centre for Paediatric ENT Care (ACENT) will bring together paediatric ENT expertise, advanced technology, and multidisciplinary care to address complex ENT conditions affecting newborns, infants, children, and adolescents.Conditions such as hearing loss, airway abnormalities, recurrent ear infections, and sleep-disordered breathing may go unrecognised in children and could potentially impact speech, learning, growth, and overall development. The centre will address this need, the release said.A one-week-old infant admitted with severe airway obstruction, feeding difficulties, and dependence on oxygen support was recently treated at the centre. Following a specialised airway intervention, the infant showed significant improvement in breathing and feeding and was discharged within days.The centre was launched in the presence of renowned playback singer Saindhavi, and Suresh Kumar M., senior consultant and coordinator, ENT, KIMSHEALTH, Thiruvananthapuram.
