The UAE unveiled its first locally sourced gemstone from Fujairah’s Al Siji region, a natural red jasper.
Named Spirit of the Emirates, the stone suits jewellery and decorative applications due to its durability.
Emirati designer Fatima Al Muhairi presented two pieces in Sharjah, linking the jasper to heritage motifs, natural pearls and a camel-head brooch named Erth.
The sourcing resulted from collaboration between the Emirati Goldsmiths Platform and Fujairah Natural Resources Corporation to support local designers.
