Lamine Yamal is back. Spain head coach Luis de la Fuente confirmed on June 14 that the young winger is in “perfect condition” after a hamstring injury that sidelined him since April 22, clearing the way for his involvement in Spain’s Group H opener against Cape Verde on June 15.

The match kicks off at 12 p.m. ET at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, Georgia.

Spain’s squad health and the Cape Verde factor

Yamal trained with the full squad in Chattanooga, Tennessee, in the days leading up to the match. De la Fuente indicated the plan is likely to bring him on as a substitute rather than risk a full 90 minutes in his first competitive action in nearly two months.

Beyond Yamal, de la Fuente confirmed there are no significant fitness concerns across the roster. Nico Williams and Victor Munoz are both available and expected to feature. For a Spain side defending its European Championship title, that’s about as clean a bill of health as you could ask for heading into a tournament opener.
