The neonatal Fc receptor blocker nipocalimab exhibited significant improvement over placebo in systemic lupus erythematosus at 24 and 52 weeks, according to data presented at the EULAR 2026 Congress.“Especially in lupus, IgG antibodies can be pathogenic,” said Richard A. Furie, MD, of the division of rheumatology at Northwell Health.
Nipocalimab (J&J) achieved 53.6% vs 39.7% placebo response at 52 weeks in SLE Phase 2; 75.8% in high-autoantibody patients. Anti-FcRn mechanism targeting IgG clearance advances autoimmune treatment; Phase 3 Gardenia trial signals market confidence in approach.
