Yair Golan, former Deputy Chief of Staff of the Israeli military and current Chairman of Israel’s Democrats party, launched a fierce attack on Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Monday. He accused Netanyahu of overseeing what he called one of the most severe strategic failures in Israel’s history, following reports of a new agreement between the United States and Iran.

In a statement posted on X on June 15, 2026, Golan warned that Israelis were waking up to a dramatically altered geopolitical landscape.

He stressed that Washington and Tehran had reached an accord without Israel’s participation, framing the development as a profound setback for the country’s national security.

“A tough morning for Israel,” Golan wrote.

According to him, “This morning, Israeli citizens are waking up to an agreement between the United States and Iran made over Israel's head.”
