Arsenal has entered negotiations with Lille OSC to sign Ayyoub Bouaddi, the 18-year-old Moroccan midfielder who has become one of the most talked-about players at the 2026 FIFA World Cup. The price tag sits at approximately €70 million, or roughly £60.4 million.
One group-stage performance against Brazil was enough to turn scouting whispers into front-page transfer sagas.
A pursuit that predates the World Cup hype
Arsenal’s interest in Bouaddi didn’t start when the cameras turned on in the World Cup. The club has been tracking the midfielder since at least January 2025, well before he became the tournament’s breakout sensation.
Initial contact between Arsenal and Lille reportedly took place before June 2026. The World Cup performances didn’t spark the conversation. They accelerated it.
