Fabian Reese is heading to Wolfsburg. The 28-year-old Hertha BSC captain has agreed personal terms with the recently relegated club on a deal running until the summer of 2030, with the transfer fee reportedly landing around £9 million.
The details behind the deal
Reese informed Hertha BSC of his intention to join Wolfsburg on June 13, 2026, according to reports from Sky Germany’s Florian Plettenberg and Sport BILD. The transfer fee has been estimated in the range of €6-8 million, which converts to roughly £5-7 million, though some reports have pegged the figure closer to £9 million depending on add-ons and structure.
Wolfsburg reportedly considered Reese a “dream target” for their promotion campaign. Multiple Bundesliga clubs and Turkish teams expressed interest in the left winger, but Reese chose the Volkswagen-backed outfit and the project they pitched him.
The contract through 2030 gives Wolfsburg a four-year window with Reese, meaning even if promotion comes in the first season, they’ve locked in a player they clearly see as a core piece of their long-term squad.
