The Carolina Hurricanes won the Stanley Cup for the first time in 20 years on Sunday and are already favored to win it next season. After going 16-3 in the playoffs, it’s hard to argue with Carolina getting the top spot. The Hurricanes are +700 to lift the Cup again next year on DraftKings. Carolina racked up 113 points in the regular season. The only team with more was the Colorado Avalanche, which are right behind Carolina in the odds. The Avalanche are +800 to win it next season.Colorado has been among the preseason favorites for the last handful of years and has had the record to back it up. The Avs have tallied at least 100 points in the regular season in the last five years and won the Presidents’ Trophy in the shortened 2020-21 season. Colorado won the Cup in 2022, and this year’s run to the Western Conference finals was the first time making it that far since. The Vegas Golden Knights, which swept Colorado to get to the Stanley Cup Finals against Carolina, are barely behind Colorado at +850. The Golden Knights have now made the Stanley Cup Finals three times in their nine-year existence and lifted the Cup in 2023.It’s no surprise to see those three teams leading the odds board for next season. The next couple of teams are a bit more interesting. The Edmonton Oilers and Florida Panthers both crack the top five in the odds at +1100. Those two teams met in the Stanley Cup Finals each of the past two seasons, so it’s not a big shock, but both had down years.
