Poland Crime News: A bizarre incident has emerged in Poland where remains of more than 30 unborn babies were found buried in a garden on private land in southeastern Poland. Following the discovery a pathologist was arrested and investigators found that the remains were allegedly taken from a hospital for “scientific” experiments.Suspect identified and arrested According to news outlet TVP World, the fetal remains were discovered on a property in Lutoryż, a village near the city of Rzeszow, that once belonged to a 57-year-old pathologist identified by Polish media as Magdalena H. She was detained in Zamość, eastern Poland, on Friday (June 12, 2026). Investigators are now scrambling to determine whether the suspect acted alone, as they suspect the case may not be limited to one property. Citing unofficial findings, Polish media claimed that 50 and 100 fetal remains may have been discovered along with large amounts of medical waste.But prosecutors said on Saturday (June 13, 2026) the remains of 32 human fetuses had been discovered. “As established so far, these items were found during earthworks on the property. Among the waste there was also a human fetus and other remains that could constitute human fetuses in an early stage of development or their fragments,” prosecutor Krzysztof Ciechanowski was quoted by TVP World as saying.According to local reports, prosecutors are checking whether more burial sites exist and whether other people were involved in moving, handling or disposing of the remains.How did the case came to lightThe case first came to light when construction workers at the property unearthed materials that appeared to be medical waste. Subsequent investigations by authorities confirmed that some of the recovered material included human fetal remains.According to Radio Eska, Magdalena H. told investigators that during the COVID-19 pandemic she removed deceased fetuses from a hospital and allegedly conducted medical research on them at her home. After the purported examinations, she is accused of placing the remains in sacks and burying them on the property.Cops recover medical items from site Police also recovered various medical items from the site, including tubes, containers, microscope slides and documents believed to be linked to hospital records, Polish media reported.Prosecutors are examining potential offences related to the desecration of human remains and the unlawful disposal of hazardous medical waste. The most serious charge under investigation carries a maximum prison sentence of up to 12 years.
