Team Vitality is heading to the playoffs at IEM Atlanta 2026, but the road there was bumpier than anyone expected. After losing their eight-match winning streak to BB Team (BetBoom) on May 13, the French-based organization clawed back through the lower bracket with a clean 2:0 sweep over B8 just one day later.
The upset and the comeback
BB Team took down Vitality 2:1 in the upper bracket of IEM Atlanta’s group stage on May 13. That result ended what had been an impressive eight-game winning run for Vitality and marked BB Team’s first victory over the organization since 2023.
The win was enough to punch BB Team’s ticket directly to the playoffs. Vitality, meanwhile, dropped into the lower bracket, where elimination games carry a different kind of pressure.
They handled it. On May 14, Vitality dispatched B8 across Mirage and Dust2, conceding zero maps in the process.
