G2 Esports sent Legacy packing from the IEM Cologne Major 2026 on June 14, taking the Best of 3 elimination match 2-1. For Legacy, a team that had clawed its way through earlier rounds with genuine momentum, the result is a painful exit from one of Counter-Strike’s most prestigious tournaments.
How the maps played out
The series stretched across three maps. Dust2 came first as Legacy’s pick. Overpass followed as G2’s selection. And when neither team could close it out in two, the match went to Inferno as the decider, which ultimately swung in G2’s favor, completing the 2-1 victory and ending Legacy’s tournament.
Legacy’s run and what went wrong
Legacy arrived at IEM Cologne as an Americas invitee. Their tournament started promisingly with a clean 2-0 sweep over TYLOO in an earlier round. But then came a loss to NAVI, which pushed Legacy into the elimination bracket, where they ultimately fell to G2.
