Migrant workers wash white water snowflake, a crunchy aquatic vegetable called “shui lian” locally, at a farm in Kaohsiung’s Meinong District yesterday. The aquatic plant is one of the three major crops in Meinong and a popular vegetable in Taiwan. Farmers usually wear full-body suits and gloves during the processes of planting, harvesting and washing the plant to prevent skin diseases and bacterial infections.
