Zhao, a resident of Suzhou who had owned the electric sedan for only two months, reported the incident to Xiaomi Auto through the company’s app on June 10, according to Sina.

As the case gained attention online, Xiaomi gave her 1,000 customer care points. The points can be redeemed for items such as picnic mats, stainless-steel cups and plush toys.

Zhao said she accepted the company’s response and hoped her case would remind other drivers to be careful when using automatic door-closing systems.

The power-closing door is not a standard feature on the Xiaomi SU7. It is part of a 7,600-yuan (US$1,120) technology package that also includes features such as a head-up display and electric steering wheel, Yangtze Evening Post reported.
