MANILA, Philippines — A coastal uplift was observed in parts of Sarangani and Davao Occidental following a magnitude 7.8 offshore earthquake on June 8, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said.

According to a recent advisory, Phivolcs observed co-seismic coastal uplift and landslides in barangays in Glan, Sarangani, as well as in southern parts of Glan and Jose Abad Santos, Davao Occidental, during an aerial survey on June 11.FEATURED STORIES

“Observations showed that corals previously submerged in the sea are now exposed above water, reshaping the coastline due to the June 8, 2026, magnitude 7.8 Sarangani Sea earthquake,” Phivolcs said.
