A man was shot and killed while two others were injured during a gun attack along Maiden Lane in Kingston Central last night.The deceased has been identified as 35-year-old Cornelio Richards of Seaview Gardens, Kingston 11.The injured are a 21-year-old man and a 79-year-old retiree.According to police reports, the three men were at a shop on Maiden Lane about 9:25 p.m. when they were attacked by unknown assailants.Richards sustained gunshot wounds and died at the scene.The attackers fled the area, and the motive for the attack has not yet been established.Detectives assigned to the Kingston Central Criminal Investigation Branch (CIB) are probing the incident.The shooting comes amid a decline in murders within the Kingston Central Police Division.Police statistics show that as of June 7, the division had recorded four murders—five fewer than the nine reported during the corresponding period last year, representing a 56 per cent reduction in homicides.Follow The Gleaner on X, formerly Twitter, and Instagram @JamaicaGleaner and on Facebook @GleanerJamaica.
