Entry to Holland Park is free, with opening hours from 7.30am until 30 minutes before dusk.The garden was opened in September 1991 by King Charles - then the Prince of Wales - and the Crown Prince of Japan to mark the 1992 Japan Festival in London, as part of a collaborative project between the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea and the Kyoto Chamber of Commerce.Celebrated Japanese garden designer Shoji Nakahara created the space as a gift from the city of Kyoto, intended to honour the longstanding friendship between Japan and the UK.
