Two of the eight most valuable tech companies in the world now hold Bitcoin as a treasury asset. That’s the stat Michael Saylor, Executive Chairman of Strategy, highlighted on June 13 when he noted that 25% of the so-called Mag8 group carries BTC on their balance sheets.
The trigger was SpaceX’s historic IPO, which disclosed 18,712 BTC in its filing documentation. That figure positions Elon Musk’s rocket company as one of the largest public corporate Bitcoin holders right out of the gate. The other Mag8 member with Bitcoin exposure, Tesla, has held 11,509 BTC since 2021.
The Mag8 and the Bitcoin question
The Magnificent 8 is a newer framing of the mega-cap tech cohort that has driven public equity markets for years. The group includes Alphabet, Amazon, Apple, Meta, Microsoft, Nvidia, Tesla, and now SpaceX following its public listing.
Of those eight, only Tesla and SpaceX have disclosed Bitcoin on their balance sheets. Combined, they hold 30,221 BTC.
