Yawer Sayeed, founder and managing director of AIMS of Bangladesh Limited — the country's first private-sector asset management company — died on June 13, in Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia.Sayeed had founded AIMS and launched Bangladesh's first private-sector mutual fund. Under his leadership, the company went on to establish five additional mutual funds, all of which earned recognition for their performance, transparency, and regulatory compliance, according to a statement.Over nearly 40 years in Bangladesh and abroad, he contributed to capital market development and shaped market-friendly policies through active participation in Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission committees.He also served as a staff consultant and performance auditor for Asian Development Bank operation evaluation missions, and provided advisory services to the World Bank and other multilateral agencies.
