Americans’ food habits are changing, in part as many people try to improve their health. We’ve covered food trends like cottage cheese, beans, even people wanting so much protein powder that supplies are running low. Now, Americans are eating more honey than ever. Ilena Peng, an agriculture reporter at Bloomberg, wrote about this trend. She talked with “Marketplace” host Kai Ryssdal about increased demand for honey — and whether American honeybees can keep up. “Beekeepers in the U.S. make most of their money from pollination,” said Peng, as opposed to honey production. “On the honey side it’s hard because as imports flow in, prices get dragged down.”To hear their conversation, click the play button at the top of the page.
