The Department of State Services (DSS) has arrested Abubakar Muhammad, a suspected arms courier, in Gezawa Local Government Area of Kano State, recovering three AK-47 rifles and two rifle magazines in an intelligence-driven operation.

Security sources disclosed that the suspect was intercepted while allegedly transporting the weapons from Maigatari in Jigawa State to Funtua in Katsina State, thwarting what authorities believe could have been a significant arms delivery.

Preliminary investigations revealed that Abubakar Muhammad, an indigene of Mokwa Local Government Area of Niger State, was arrested with the firearms following credible intelligence that enabled operatives to monitor his movements and intercept him before reaching his destination.

Speaking after his arrest, Abubakar Muhammad reportedly told investigators that he received the rifles and magazines from an individual in Maigatari and was instructed to deliver them to another contact in Funtua.

He said he had collected the weapons in Jigawa State and was en route to Katsina when DSS operatives apprehended him in Gezawa and recovered the firearms intact.
